UPDATE: News report on why the Western Monarch has not been put on the Endangered Species list yet!
Interesting article on why we have to wait until 2024 for the Western Monarch to be put on the Endangered Species List by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Part of the problem is that they lump the Western Monarch in with the Eastern Monarch and are looking at overall numbers for both when they should be just looking at the Western Monarch. Also, part of the problem is that they feel that other species that are endangered take a higher priority (why? I don’t know)

This quote concerns me: “Forty-seven species have gone extinct waiting for their protection to be finalized,” Tierra Curry, senior scientist at the Center for Biological Diversity, said in a news release. “This decision continues the delay in implementing a national recovery plan which monarchs desperately need.” The Western Monarch may nor be around by 2024 to put on the List.

Please contact our Congressional Representatives and ask them to save the Western Monarch NOW.
